Three Ways WWE can add Stakes to Survivor Series
Ever since the WWE reintroduced the brand split in 2016 after a five year hiatus, the November tradition has turned into a Battle of Brand Supremacy between Monday Night RAW and Friday Night SmackDown.
While the Battle of the Brands is fun in kayfabe, it really doesn’t mean anything in retrospect. There’s no prize for winning Survivor Series. There’s just bragging rights.
Heading into the 2021 version of Survivor Series Nov. 21 in Brooklyn, WWE’s own superstars have taken notice of the kayfabe stakes and want actual stakes inserted into the event.
I completely agree with the superstars. For fans to be truly invested in a Battle of the Brands, there needs to be real stakes. Most of the WWE Universe watches both of the company’s flagship shows, so rooting for one show over the other is hard to do without meaning.
Here are three ways WWE can add stakes to Survivor Series
Winning Brand Earns Main Event Spots at Wrestlemania
There’s no bigger prize in the business for a brand than main eventing the show of shows, and with Wrestlemania now being a two-night affair, the winning brand should receive both main event spots. If the Royal Rumble winners are from the same brand, that’s even better, but Royal Rumble winners don’t have to be in the main event slot as we’ve seen in the past.
Winning Brand Earns №30 Spots in Royal Rumble Matches
If WWE doesn’t want to award the winning brand the main event spots at Wrestlemania, this is the next best prize. The math yells out the №30 entrant in the Royal Rumble match gives the entrant the best chance to win the hardest match to predict in WWE every calendar year.
Winning Brand Steals Draft Pick From Losing Brand
What better way to show your rival you are the top dog than stealing one member from their roster?! This would provide urgency for not only USA and FOX, but the superstars of both brands. No champions could be involved in the choice, considering both brands have to have an equal level of title holders, but anybody else on the roster could be available to be stolen.
