WWE Needs to do Some Serious House Cleaning in 2019
While watching the December 18th, 2018, episode of Smackdown Live, I am sitting in my basement watching the Usos take on Gallows and Anderson, and a lot of thoughts are going through my head.
“Where’s Rusev? Where’s Shinsake Nakamura? Where’s The Iiconics? Where’s Randy Orton? Where’s Rey Mysterio?”
Then it dawned on me. WWE has too much talent on their roster. Too much talent is never a bad thing if you know how to use your talent correctly, but that is the problem. WWE has three hours of RAW, and two hours of Smackdown Live every single week, and they do not have enough room to use their talent correctly. Even in a three hour show, there is only so much you can do, leaving many talented wrestlers lost in the shovel. Even with this new “shake up” with the McMahons back in power, it is not going to fix the fact that WWE has too many stars that are wasting their talent.
Therefore, I have come up with a list of superstars from both RAW and Smackdown Live that need to be released for one of two reasons.
- They were previous mega stars on the independent scene, or they would be stars on the indies, and they are just not being used properly in WWE,
- WWE is wasting money by having them on their roster. These superstars are barely used. They are either veterans who wrestle only a couple days a year, or they are still young, but they will not do well in any other promotion in my opinion.
I have broken them down by brand and category below.
RAW Superstars That Need to be Released Because of Reason One:
Apollo Crews, Bray Wyatt, Finn Baylor, Jinder Mahal, Bobby Roode, Chad Gable, Breezango, B-Team, Alicia Fox, The Revival.
RAW Superstars That Need to be Released Because of Reason Two:
No Way Jose, Dana Brooke, Heath Slater, Curt Hawkins, Lucha House Party, The Ascension, Goldust.
Smackdown Live Superstars That Need to be Released Because of Reason One:
Tye Dillinger, Aiden English, Andrade Cien Almas, Shelton Benjamin, Shinsuke Nakamura, Gallows and Anderson, SAnity, Iiconics, Zelina Vega.
Smackdown Live Superstars That Need to be Released Because of Reason Two:
R-Truth, Sin Cara, Colones.
I would also strip the cruserweight division. Nobody watches 205 Live anymore on the WWE Network, and they barely get any love on RAW and Smackdown Live. Therefore, on my count, I would release 23 superstars on RAW, 17 superstars on Smackdown Live, and all 14 cruserweights. That is 54 superstars I would send packing in 2019. It would cut the WWE roster in half yes, but only half of the superstars in WWE get used anyways. This would force WWE to use the superstars they have on their roster appropriately and make every superstar feel important again, including the ones that get called up from NXT. Most of the superstars on the list are talented enough to succeed elsewhere, so it is not like there career would be over if they left WWE. There career may actually be better off, because they are being used properly.
